Rim Specifications

All DFW rims are manufactured and tested by FASTOP Composites.

All rims are Unidirectional Toray T800 HM400 (High Modulus 400mpa Tensile Strength) carbon fibre with 3K weave reinforced spoke holes.

All rims are Hooked and Tubeless Compatible, Hookless available on request

Disc Road Wheels are Glossy Carbon base finished with Glossy DFW FASTOP White graphics as standard.

Disc CX & Gravel Wheels are Matt Carbon base finished with Matt DFW FASTOP White graphics as standard.

Spoke Specifications

All spokes are Pillar Stainless Steel Spokes Straight Pull in Black.

For over 30 years, Pillar has been a world leader in the development of spokes. Pillar have specialised production facilities in Taiwan closely linked to its own research and development facilities. Pillar is the choice for spokes and nipples of some of the most renowned manufacturers in the bicycle industry.

We use two models of Pillar spoke design.

For a more economical build where price is a factor and weight is not so important, I use the Pillar Standard Aero Spoke PA1423, Straight Pull, Black.

Where speed, aerodynamics and weight are important factor, I use the Pillar Wing 20 Elliptical Wing Spokes, Straight Pull, Black.

Elliptical Wing Spokes Pillar Wing spokes with aerofoil profile. Tested and proven to provide aerodynamic advantage over flat or bladed options both from Pillar and other competitors.

Nipple Specifications

All DFW Wheels are built using Pillar Nipples

Pillar Brass Black.

We use CN Quad Drive 14g 16mm Brass Nipples. These nipples allow slightly longer spoke lengths to be used, allowing the threads of the spokes to pass deep into the head of the nipple removing the high tension stress point around the weakest cross section area of the nipple. This allows the high spoke tensions required when building Carbon Rims to be achieved without any detrimental effect on the life and performance of the nipples.

Advisable for wheels that will be used in the winter and inclement or arduous weather conditions. Brass nipples can last a lifetime if the wheels looked after and need limited attention.

We can also build with Alloy Nipples for customer specific requests

Alloy nipples can last for years if the wheels are looked after, but alloy nipples will corrode, degrade and work-harden over time, especially when wheels are ridden in the inclement or arduous UK weather conditions, however, I will always support DFW customers who need wheels rebuild due to corroded or broken nipples with the lowest possible rebuild prices.

Not Advisable for wheels that will be used in the winter and inclement or arduous weather conditions.

The Wheels

All DFW wheels are supplied with a Spoke Tension Report and Build Specification Sheet, both complete with the wheel serial numbers, date of build and actual wheel weight.

All DFW Wheels are provided with a 2 year warranty against material or workmanship defects. The warranty period runs from the day you receive your wheels. Parts subject to wear and tear (including, but not limited to: bearings, brake tracks etc.) through normal use are entitled to a 6-month warranty period.

All DFW Wheels are tested and UCI Approved

Hub Specifications

DFW Hubs are designed and manufactured in Taiwan to my requirements.

DFW Hubs are fitted with OEM Chromium Steel bearings as standard, they can be upgraded and fitted with Enduro Stainless Steel Radial Bearings (C3 Clearance)

Enduro radial bearings features 440C stainless steel alloy races and Grade 10 balls with LLB dual-seals and 90% fill with Mobil XHP 222 high pressure water proof grease to withstand daily abuse of use and the inclement UK elements.
